Welcome to the Johnson Elementary School, a community of lifelong learners. Johnson Elementary School is nicely tucked in the Summerlakes subdivision in Warrenville, not far from Route 59 and Butterfield Road. We serve about 550 students from preschool through fifth grade. Our purpose, in collaboration with parents and our community, is to provide a safe learning environment, in which, every student can and will reach every academic, social and emotional success possible. We strive to help students develop and learn necessary skills while enjoying their educational process through active participation, technology resources, and research based instructional practices.

In addition to their classroom experiences our students in kindergarten through fifth grade participate daily in a physical education program. Students in first through fifth grade also receive instruction in vocal music and art each week. Fourth grade students can elect to participate in orchestra and fifth grade students can participate in band. Both of these music groups also perform throughout the school year. Our Library Learning Center (LLC) offers students a place to check out books, conduct research, and use technology in many ways. Students access the LLC during whole class times, with small study groups, and as individuals. Students also access computers both in their classrooms and in the LLC in order to extend and support learning. Johnson Elementary School offers many other club and before and after school activities for students as well. For instance, this year students participated in Journalism Club, Make a Difference Club, Fitness Club, Bedtime with Books, Breakfast with Books, M.A.R.S. (Math and Reading School), Make It-Take It Nights, Student Council, Chorus, Safety Patrol and other opportunities.
